My CrossFit Family

Here's a photo of some of friends from CrossFit! Corlyn is an amazing badass with the best legs ever! Vanessa is an ultra fantastic amazing Coach, Carl is the CrossFit Endurance Guru, Summer is an ultramarathon goddess, Michael is WAY strong and fast and pushes me to excel, Kellie is my best cheerleader and a coach in the making extraordinaire, and Donna is one of the most badass women I have ever known! These people inspire me to reach for great heights. Thanks to all of you.

Nice blog about your Crossfit family..I love them too and keep in mind that you are now one of those "inspiring" people. Seriously. I hope you realize that and believe me..it's no BS. You inspire me.

Your prior "suckfest" post was really too harsh on yourself. I don't think you realize how much a marathon takes out of someone. And honestly, while you are so much stronger than you were, your recovery time is going to be longer than someone who has been doing this stuff a lot longer.

Your muscle glycogen was tapped out, there was a lot of muscle breakdown (to then rebuild and become stronger) you had to have felt tired even days later..that is just to be expected..so rest and recover and sure, train but go a little lighter and do not expect to ROCK your workouts the week after a marathon.

I could tell you were feeling a little better tonight at O-lift, but you still seemed down on yourself. STOP IT! You are not a "pussy". Your body breaks down only to repair and get stronger..be kind to it and yourself.

Look, I've been racing trail runs for 5 years and this marathon still broke me down more than I expected. I did well at Wilson training but honestly it's because I rested a lot last week.

So..thanks for the reminder that I need to get my ass back to some serious work at the Academy, but please take me at my word..it's okay for you to still be a little out of it.

See you soon.

Shannon, I was with you both yesterday and today. You really were two different people. Today I got to see the Bad Ass I love to chase. Maybe in this case you are right that it's all in the mind set.

Congratulations on re-finding the perspective to put you right back on the top of the board!
